So far everything is great with my order. I received the mini-split rather quickly and it had all the parts and accessories that I expected. I haven't had it installed yet so this is just a preliminary review. I will give a follow-up on the installation process and then a final review on how well it's working. By the way, I was surprised and pleased to find that I had received 25ft of hose instead of the advertised 15ft. I'm not sure if I'll need that much but we'll see. What you don't get is wall mounting brackets or a platform to sit this thing on. You'll have to order the wall brackets separately (as I have done) or go to Home Depot or Lowe's and get some concrete tiles. Four 1ft x 1ft tiles will do the trick. I'm planning on installing the hardware myself and then having an HVAC tech come complete the process regarding trimming down the hoses if necessary, evacuating the hoses, checking for leaks, and any other stuff that would require a professional HVAC person and their specialized equipment can do. I've done considerable research and have learned that this is the best thing to do to insure that you don't damage the unit once it's in operation. Any amount of moisture or dust or whatever that might be in the hoses will cause the unit to eventually fail not long after first use. After lots and lots of research, we finally decided on the AmVent mini split for my master bedroom. We chose this due to the "quick connect" system. The wiring is easier and you don't have to have an HVAC tech vacuum the lines like the other brands do.
I wasn't here when my husband installed it, but I did get quite a few phone calls from him while he was trying to figure it out. The instructions are extremely brief and written by someone who uses english as a second language. Luckily, I had printed out basic installation instructions from another brand's website, which helped. He had a hard time finding the phone number in the paperwork to get further assistance (he doesn't use computers), but once he found it, he was able to get the info he needed to finish the job. He is very handy and does a lot of diy stuff at our home so it was a pretty easy install for him with the right instructions. Had I been here to find the info he needed on the computer, it would have gone very quickly and easily.
It hasn't been too hot here yet, so I have only used the ac briefly, but I think it's going to be great. It's tons quieter than our window unit. If this works as well as I think it will, I will purchase a larger unit for our living/kitchen area.
