The directions for putting this product together are not very good. My husband (an engineer) even had a challenging time putting it together. After 45 minutes or so, it was finally together. The first time the lid was shut, it cracked. The materials seem VERY cheap and given the challenges of putting it together, I would suggest looking for a different product. I ended up buying a solid oak, handmade 2 step stool from a local artisan for only $5 more than this cheap product.

We purchased this stool so that our son could 1) climb up and sit on the toilet on his own, and 2) stand at the sink to wash his hands. The stool works great at the sink, he loves being able to reach, and we love not having to hold him everytime we wash his hands! As for the toilet, it get's the job done. Neither step allows him to easily climb up to sit down, the bottom step is too low and the top step is too high. What we've done is just turn it around (the opposite way it would normally be used). He climbs up the little step, then holds onto the handles (he doesn't like to touch the toilet with his hands!) and scoots his way onto the toilet. If he's ever losing his balance, he just leans forward and holds onto the handles. It actually works out really well this way. The one negative thing I can say about the step stool is that it stains. You have to wipe up any and all messes right away, or else it will leave a nasty stain. Other than that, we've been pretty pleased with it!

This stool was exactly what I'd been looking for so that my toddler could reach the bathroom sink alone. The instructions were easy to follow and it went together quickly, until I discovered that one set of holes had been drilled in the wrong place. The top step could not be affixed to the rest of the stool. I had to return it and due to the poor craftsmanship, I decided to go with a similar, but slightly more expensive stool from another manufacturer.
